Argument over vomit leads to shooting

The hot summer days of July can lead to flaring hot tempers in Arizona. An argument over vomit lead to a shooting on Tuesday evening in Phoenix. According to an AZFamily.com report, a man was walking his dog in the courtyard of his apartment building when another man vomited over the ledge of the second floor, and all over the man's dog.

The incident sparked an immediate and heated argument. The man on the second floor proceeded down the stairs and started towards the man with the dog. A short chase ensued and the man with the dog was shot several times just as he reached the door to his apartment.

The man had two children staying in his apartment, a 14-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old family friend. Both children were injured.

Witnesses say that the alleged shooter, later identified as Anthony Houston, was drunk when the altercation occurred. Police searched for Houston throughout the night but did not catch up with him until the next evening. Officers explained that they worked diligently to get a dangerous criminal off the street.

Gun crimes are dealt with harshly in Arizona. Houston was charged with a number of felonies, including aggravated assault, endangerment and weapons charges.

Meanwhile the shooting victims are expected to survive their injuries.

When facing such serious charges, having an experienced criminal defense attorney at your side is essential.  A seasoned lawyer can dissect the evidence, challenge the allegations lodged and help the accused make prudent and informed decisions about their case. Additionally, an attorney can make critical arguments regarding potential sentencing and humanize the accused.
