Possession of drugs and being accused of drug crimes are very serious situations with sometimes extremely severe and long-lasting consequences that can include jail time. Whether marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines or another type of illegal drug, being arrested for possession, use of or selling of such substances can result in a very lengthy and complex legal process.

A recent news report recounts the case of a couple arrested in Goodyear, AZ on multiple drug charges including the transportation of narcotics and possession with intent to sell. The 33-year old woman and 25-year old man were travelling from California to Ohio when police received information that the couple may be harboring illegal narcotics.

Law enforcement authorities obtained a search warrant for both the couple’s vehicle and their motel room and entered their Super 8 motel room on the corners of Van Buren Street and Dysart Road in Goodyear. Roughly 4.2 pounds of heroin and assorted drug paraphernalia were among the items found and recovered. The heroin has a report street value of more than $150,000. The two people were arrested and their bond was set at $270,000 each.

Being arrested for and charged with drug possession, drug use or the transportation and selling of illegal drugs can leave people feeling as they have little opportunity for fair representation. However, that is not always the case. If you are in this situation or know someone who is, you may wish to consult with an attorney to learn how you can get appropriate assistance.
