Phoenix man arrested on suspicion of discharging weapon in city

Most people in Maricopa County are aware that firing a weapon at another person may result in serious criminal charges in Arizona. They often do not know, however, that even just discharging a firearm can also lead to weapons charges in the state. Depending on where and why people shoot guns, they could face serious charges, including unlawful discharge of a firearm.

According to reports, a 27-year-old man was recently arrested for weapons crimes in Phoenix. The authorities allege that the man pointed a firearm at a law enforcement officer when they came into contact with him. Law enforcement was reportedly searching the area after receiving reports of shots being fired at an area apartment complex.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of discharging a firearm within city limits and aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer. The specific charges that he may face, however, remain unknown to the public at this time. At his initial court appearance, he was ordered to be held without bail. It was not disclosed what penalties the man could face if he is convicted of the charges he was arrested on.

Arizona’s gun laws are relatively lenient That said, people may face harsh penalties, including lengthy jail or prison sentences, if they are convicted of weapons crimes in the state.
