Maricopa County Domestic Violence Defense Lawyers

In Phoenix and throughout Arizona, The Baker Law Firm, LLC is committed to providing uncompromising criminal defense to people who have been charged with any domestic violence offense. We understand the impact these charges can have on families and loved ones as well as the long-term repercussions that result from the potential criminal penalties. Attorney Michael Baker has presented continuing legal education seminars to other lawyers on issues of domestic violence and the collateral consequences of such convictions.

Each case is different, and the penalties you face will be influenced by the specific facts and circumstances surrounding the charges. We recommend you speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney about your options. For an initial consultation, call us at 602-842-0359.

Jail, Fines and Collateral Consequences

If you are convicted on charges involving domestic violence, you could face up to six months in jail in addition to a $2,500 fine. But there are also collateral consequences for being accused of domestic violence. For instance, while a case is pending, there will be an order of protection barring you from being near the plaintiff. If you have children, this could mean you are unable to spend time with them. If you live with the plaintiff, it could leave you homeless while your case is pending.

At The Baker Law Firm, LLC, we seek a dismissal of the charges first and foremost. If a dismissal is not granted, we seek plea agreements or try to enter a client into a diversion program that will result in a clean record after successful completion of the program. We may also determine whether the victim is interested in assisting the prosecutor(s) and if not, other dispositions such as dismissal at trial may be warranted.
